Adam Ant Costume

This is my son Maxwell dressed up for Halloween as the British musician Adam Ant. I am a huge fan and love '80s music, I was inspired while putting sunscreen on his face at the beach. I was very lucky to find the jacket at a local thrift shop (it's Stella McCartney for Baby Gap). He's a blondie, so I had to spray his hair with black hairspray. I made a small braid tied with a red ribbon and clipped it in with a barrette. I used a scarf for a cravat, and a white button up shirt beneath. He wore his own black pants and shoes, and I tied small buckles onto the shoe tops. For the thigh high pirate boots, I cut up an old black plastic garment bag and hot glued them together in a back seam. I used my own belt and a red scrap of fabric as a waist wrap that ties at the side. I also took a piece of red & gold embroidered ribbon I found to tie around his leg. I was surprised that he didn't pull out the braid and kept the costume on all night!
