Armored Batman Costume

This is my submission for the 2019 costume contest. This entire costume was constructed by hand mostly consisting of yoga mat foam. Using pictures online and a small Batman figure I got from the store I laid out pieces flat cutting them at the razor knife then folding them in place and gluing the seams. I tested the pieces directly on my body for the perfect fit before final gluing. I gave it a weathered look by roughing it up with a Dremel tool. Then I coated it with some 50/50 mix of PVA wood glue and water to give it a more durable shell. Then came paint which was basic aerosol spray paint using three tones for the best look. For the lights in The Mask I used plastic from Tupperware containers with some super bright LEDs and a battery-powered switch hidden in the top left ear of the headpiece. The cape was a thick textured black curtain that was sized and shaped then glued. The shoulder belt and a small Bluetooth speaker with the batman theme movie sountrack praying from my phone. This costume cost $73 in material and over 100 hours of design and build time....
