A word from Rosa, the 'Disney's Ursula' costume creator:
This year, my over confident self decided to make my daughter's Halloween costume again. We're big Disney fans but instead doing the usual princess costume we went for the villain!!
For the skirt, I bought 1yrd of black fabric ($6.97 at WalMart). I ended up cutting it in half and used one half for the skirt and the other for the 8 tentacles. I added elastic to the waist but didnt bbother to hem the bottom.
For the tentacles I bought half a yard of purple satin fabric. I drew the tentacles freehand (they were about 24inches long because I wanted them to fold out) I tried sewing them at first but gave up because I suck at sewing! So I opted to use my hot glue gun instead and just glued the fabric edges to each other. I stuffed them with pillow stuffing, glued the ends shut then glued them to the bottoms of the skirt. Then I again glued them from mid tentacle to the skirt so they would stay in place instead of dragging.
I'm a big shell collector so I had a nautilus type shell already. I spray painted it gold and added black ribbon that I glued to the inside of the shell. I spray painted the other shells purple and turned them into earrings. I bought a devil pitchfork and painted it gold to resemble King Triton's trident. But never got around to make the crown :(. Because it was a cool night, we opted for a long sleeve Leotard instead of using last year's costume as the top. I bought the white spray to do her hair and did her makeup as best as I could. We used a sharpie for the mole!! All in all, I think it turned out quite nice!!
