Gatsby Burlesque Costume

I came up with the idea because a friend of mine is having a Gatsby themed wedding. I told her I would love to make the invitations for it and started brainstorming and researching different ideas. One thing led to another, and I thought, what a great halloween costume this could be. Especially being a single girl in her 20s I thought it would be perfect. I have also danced all my life, and love the roaring 20s, so it was meant to be!

I used a black corset and bought black lace, ruffles, sequins, and other embellishments to stitch onto the corset. I used a boa of feathers to sew along the back, bought a top hat and glue gunned feathers and sequins, a filter for a prop, and glued a piece of lace onto the side of my face for extra effect. It came out beautifully!

Everyone was absolutely obsessed! Now my friend wants to have all the wait staff at the wedding to wear these! It was a truly amazing accomplishment to finish the costume and to wear it all night.
