Swamp Fairy Costume

This costume was a combination of thrifted items and DIY. The moss crown was made from twigs/moss found in the park and scrap fabric. The dress, jacket, and wings were bought at the local Goodwill and altered to fit. The skirt was hand made by my mother. Its made of strips of fabric and leather sewn around a waist band. We added feathers, beads and even a fox tail in the skirt for texture.
The inspiration for this costume came from my own backyard! I live in south Texas where it is surrounded by woods and marshy areas with lots of trees that have hanging moss. I decided that a swamp fairy would blend wonderfully with the surroundings and I would be able to find many of the materials I needed in nature.
