A word from Kimberly, the 'The Owl Man' costume creator:
This is my 15 year old son, Jake. He wanted to be the urban legend "The Owl Man." My husband helped him take chicken wire and form the shape of the head. Inside they attached a hart hat so the it would fit comfortably on his head and not have to rest on his shoulders. Then he got glue and water and mixed them to make a paste to paper mâché the head, and also twisted long pieces of newspaper to paper mâché the long fingers. Once dry, he spray painted it black. We tool the lenses out of an old pair of my sunglasses and painted them black. Then we began to glue the feathers on one by one. This took a couple of days. The long fingers were duct taped together and painted, then put on sticks so that he could hold the sticks and would appear to have longer arms. To make the eyes shine, I rubbed a little vegetable oil on the lenses. We bought the suit and shirt from a local thrift store. The end product is something that my son is very proud of.
