A word from Jennifer, the 'Snail' costume creator:
My 5 year old son, Tristan, is OBSESSED with snails and asked if he could be one for Halloween. I said "yes" before quickly finding out that there were no costumes available for purchase (I'm sure because of the incredibly high demand 😉). So, as a non-crafty and non-sewing person, I discovered the beauty of using a glue gun for everything and made this MacGyver snail costume. I made it exactly like he draws snails: Green body, blue eyes and a big, red smile. He loved wearing it, which made it worth all of those glue gun learning curve burns😀
Approximate cost: $15
Materials:
*medium-sized box (he wanted to be able to tuck most of his body inside of it
*2 rolls of craft paper (Target)
*green jersey material. For the body, I traced around him (leaving a couple extra inches all around), cut it out and used the glue gun to "sew" it together, and then turned it inside out
*glue gun & glue sticks
*tape
*chopsticks for the eye-stalks
*pipe cleaners for the eye-stalks
*plastic balls for the eyes (I already had these and didn't want to purchase paint, but you could paint styrofoam balls)
*blue balloons for the eyes
*googly eyes
*red felt for the smile
*file folder (covered with same green material) for headband
