This homemade costume for adults entered our 2016 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Patrick, the 'The Mad Hatter' costume creator:
Poor Mad Hatter! He couldn't decide what to wear to the Queen's Tea, so he decided to wear all his hats at once!
The base of the main hat is a five gallon paint bucket, with a 3/4" PVC pipe for the hat rack. I drilled holes in the pipe for the dowels of the hat rack, and used paper clips to attach the 26(!) hats to the dowels.
To hold the bucket on my head, I secured a plastic construction helmet to the bottom of the bucket.
As for the outfit, I took clothes from a thrift store, cut them in half, and reattached them to other halves.
