This homemade costume for babies entered our 2016 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Taya, the 'Kenyan Maasai Warrior' costume creator:
This is Sukari Suzuki Jordan. This photo was taken on her first Holloween when she was 4 months old. She is a Maasai Warrior from Kenya. We spent 6 years in Africa and had just moved back to California a few months earlier. The jewelry is actual Maasai tribal jewelry. I made the dress, then bought some rubber and made the shoes (Maasai shoes are made from old tires), the sword is foam and the shield is made from an old diaper box.
Each year I make a costume based on a different country to celebrate a strong figure. I also rotate male and female costumes each year. The first year she was a Maasai Warrior from Kenya, her second year she was Frida Kahlo representing Mexico, her third year she a Muay Thai boxer from Thailand and this year Queen Elizabeth the First.
