Paper Mache Angry Birds Costumes

My 10 year old is wearing the red bird and 5 year old its sidekick pig. The idea came from a giant Ichiro paper mache bobble head I saw once at a Mariners game. When the Red Sox had a historic collapse (we're from Boston), we wanted to make a Red Sox character. Kids didn't find it amusing and suggested Angry Birds. It was supposed to be a "family project", but kids lost interest in ripping up 40 newspaper and soaking strips in paste over 6 layers. The final product became so heavy for kid's heads that I made large "windows" at the back to reduce the weight. They went to doors with the right side front and turned the piece around to say "Trick or Treat". The whole neighborhood gave two thumbs up. The head pieces will be adopted by kid's school for next year's fundraiser.
