Castaway Couple Costume

Castaway Couple

Costume type:  Costumes for Couples
Categories:Halloween Costumes, Movie and TV Show Costumes

This homemade costume for couples entered our 2011 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from John, the 'Castaway Couple' costume creator:

After going as food item the previous two years my girlfriend and I decided to go as one of our favorite movies Castaway. I dressed up as the Tom Hanks Character. I went tanning and lost about 20 pounds for the role, although the beard was fake. I added a fed ex box and to complete the costume. For wilson we paper mached a big beachboll and painted it white, then painted wilson in burgundy. She wore a wilson headband with palms coming out of the back for added effect.

Hey Robyn it was a 4 foot beach ball. I propped it up on a garbage can for paper machete process. I eyeballed the holse for the head and arms. But we wound up cutting the arm holes a little bit more after it was done drying.

This is the perfect costume for us this Halloween since I will be 8.5 months pregnant. No paper mache needed, will just wear a huge white t-shirt and put Wilson's "face" over my tummy :)

Where would I get a beach ball big enough to make Wilson? Also how do you do papier-mâché?
