A word from Denisha, the 'Sir Hiss in Barrel' costume creator:
I am wearing the costume. My family did the movie theme of Robin Hood this year and I was trying to think of a funny part in the movie to recreate. We used a cardboard printer box to create the barrel. We rolled it up into a circle and then bent the bottom and top a bit. It was secured by using tape and hot glue. I then painted the barrel with various shades of Browns and used a cloth to wipe the colors to make grain lines.
I made the snake out of paper mache. The snake was built by using half of a metal grabber. I then wrapped the handel of the grabber with newspaper and masking tape. Then I covered with newspaper and glue. Next I painted e snake with various acrylic paints and covered it with mod podge.
We drilled two eye holes in the front of the barrel so I could see while wearing it. There are also straps that go over my shoulders on the inside and hand straps so I can carry it.
