Frida Kahlo Costume

This is a homemade costume I came up with one evening a couple Halloweens ago. I had the festive Mexican dress already in my wardrobe and realized it would make a great Frida costume dress. I rolled my long dread lock hair up and twisted it to resemble Frida's rolled hairdo look and added various fake flowers and flower clips to the front. I used different colorful necklaces I had to add to the look and turquoise nugget skull earrings for an added accessory. I'm wearing a long red skirt under the Mexican embroidered dress. I also put on a bit of makeup to give myself a slight unibrow, a feature that Frida is known for having. I love the artwork, life and history of Frida Kahlo and I had always wanted to honor her by dressing up as her and I love being a strong feminist character for Halloween as well.
