A word from Carolyn, the '1950's Zombies' costume creator:
My self and my husband Ceelyn. Dressed as 1950's zombies for the local Zombie Walk here in Las Cruces, NM. I made both costumes and did all the make up. For his costume, We bought an old sweater vest at the thrift store and I used felt to design a College letter and used fabric glue to adhere it to the front. He paired it with and old pair of jeans, a white tshirt, and converse. I did his hair with the "grease"-like pompadore curl in the front. I used liquid latex and homemade blood for all the gore. He had a bullet hole and part of his mouth torn back. For my costume I used felt and cotton balls to make the poodle and attached it to an old skirt. I cut up a white dress slip and glued it underneath the skirt. I used acrylic paint to make an old pair of running shoes look like saddle shoes. I had my throat slit and the side of my face and my leg both had huge gory cuts on them. I took all the clothes outside and rubbed them in the dirt and splashed my fake blood all over before putting them on.
