This homemade costume for babies entered our 2013 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Kathy, the '50s Girl and 50s inspired Car' costume creator:
My 15 month old daughter Brianna is a 50s girl. Her skirt I purchased from www.hiphop50sshop.com. Her jacket I purchased from GAP. I added a "B" on the letterman's jacket from stickers I purchased at Michael's. She has white Bobby socks and black shoes.
I completely "pimped her ride" and made it 50ish. I spray painted majority of the car by using painter's tape and newspaper. I also used foil to cover the wheels while I spray painted the silver.
For the wheels, I first spray painted them white. Then, I taped a CD onto the wheels, and sprayed the black paint. (I covered the CD's hole with painter's tape.) This gave it the "white wall" look. After several days of use, I used a black Sharpie to spruce up the wheels.
Inside the hood, I have 50s music playing. In addition, the front lights really work! They are touch lights I purchased from Target.
The radio on the inside of the car lists "WERE", the station that Bill Randle made Elivs famous on.
