A Trophy for Everyone! Costume

The costume is worn by two of my daughters (Summer and Savannah Ramsey) and their friends (Amanda Stephens and Brooke Lockwood). We got the idea from Pinterest and it was designed for the Southeastern Jr. Sr. High Annual Costume Contest, which is why they wore the masks. (I'm a teacher there and our student's go all out). The costume was made with a LOT of spray paint, I mean a LOT ($100+ worth). First, we gathered the clothing items and sports equipment from local thrift stores and painted everything multiple times. I've learned to be selective with materials, because several of the items we used do not hold paint well, like cottons. I also did a lot of the painting while the kids were in the clothes to get the best coverage. Next, we needed to find the perfect base. We used fan boxes with the foam still in place and added extra filler with wrapping paper. The boxes were painted. The name plates were made with poster board. I like to use my projector to trace the letters. we ordered a lot of gold body paint to cover exposed skin, but ended up spraying paint in most areas, excluding the face. WE had a blast with this costume and enjoyed the reactions of their peers!
