Alice in Wonderland Costume

Alice in Wonderland has always been my favorite story. As a child I was memorized by the magic and the beauty of the animation. I have always used art as a creative outlet and as a graduate student in social work I find that I'm at my best when I have a project I'm working on. For this costume I spent less than $100 and had most of my materials. I already had a blue and green dress that I had used in previous costumes. I sewed them together and made the white apron out of fabric pieces. I used the top of the green dress to make a vest. I purchased fake red roses and painted them to look like "painting the roses red." I made the hat out of card stock, fabric, wire, and ribbon. I made several hats to test the design, sizes, and fabric colors. I was able to order the bowtie and rabbit's watch online for less than $5. I made the rocking horse fly out of a toy horse, adding on clay and paint. I used two different colored tights and sewed them together. I had a lot of fun with this project and put a lot of time and effort into it.
