This homemade costume for women entered our 2018 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Samantha, the 'Amazon Phemia' costume creator:
Samantha is wearing the costume.
The costume was derived from the Wonder Woman movie Amazon designs.
I crafted the chest armor using foam floor mats as my base and craft foam for details. The armor was sealed with Plasti-dip then painted with spray paint. The chest armor goes over my head and then laces in the back where I added D-rings. Then I tie the cape to another set of D-rings. Sometimes I add fur depending on how warm/cold it is.
The corset was a black, base corset that I covered in leather and vinyl. I painted the vinyl gold then began layering on other earth tones to add definition. The corset was sealed in a matte mod podge spray.
The gloves were made from scrap leather and the bracers from foam sealed with Plasti-dip and then spray painted.
The leg armor was also constructed using foam floor mats, craft foam, plasti-dip and spray paint. I attached them to my legs with elastic.
The wig was styled by me. It was a straight Arda-Wig that was over 40" long. I added a bun to it then began braiding and tucking hair in layers to create a clean up-do.
The tiara was cast by Allen Amis Creations and painted by me. I add D-rings inside the tiara so I could secure it to my wig using elastic.
The sword is a cold steel polypropylene training weapon that I re-painted and sealed for safety.
My friend Matthew Hunt Photography took these photos for me. It was a great experience for me. I was able to test out my outfit and figure out where I needed to make adjustments.
