Blue Ringed Octopus aka Disco Sea Witch Costume

I am wearing the costume. It was a costume inspired by my favorite and probably the most beautfiful, deadly creature on this planet. I have always had a fascination with the ocean and it's insurmountable vastness. I love fairies and mythical creatures such as sirens and mer people. So I thought I could create my own magical creature and let it take the shape of my favorite ocean creature.

I built the body of the octopus from a gold fabric and stuffed the inside with pillow stuffing I used wire hangers to give each appendage a bendable will of their own and attached them to a foam and cardboard on the inside of the creature and stuffed around it to make it soft the the touch.Each leg has handmade hot glue and latex tube suckers that are very squishy to the touch to resemble the suckers on an Octopus. I built strap in the body of the beast to allow it to be worn as a backpack.

I then Built the outfit with the leftover fabric and morphed a cowl neck dress pattern with a pants pattern to allow my own legs to be the last two legs of the creature. I used a blue fabric to cut out rings and glued each on with glow in the dark Hot glue to allow the rings to stand out. Especially under black lighting.

THe shoes and the wig were the only store bought pieces and I hand made a beaded starfish and seashell crown fit for a Queen of the Sea out of Czech glass, pearls and seashells.
