This homemade costume for girls entered our 2015 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Vanessa, the 'Great Horned Owl & Peacock' costume creator:
Nadia is 8 & Juliett is 3. The skirts are all strips of tulle and ribbon, attached to felt. The Peacock wings are clothes hangers, covered in fabric and stuck in foam in a tiny backpack. Very light! The owl cape is a fuzzy rug I found at goodwill, covered in turkey feathers. Everything put together with seriously, hundreds of glue sticks (I don't sew). The girls were very helpful and patient with the month of after school madness we went through. My mom always made our costumes, and they were detailed and wonderful. I'm carrying on her legacy.
