Ariel turns into a Mermaid Costume

For years I have been wanting to make a mermaid sitting on a rock dress. This year my 5yo happened to be into The Little Mermaid, so it seemed like the perfect timing. I decided to put a spin on it by making it a transformation dress. Since fabric stores were harder to get to, I purchased many of the fabrics from Amazon, Etsy, or repurposed old clothing. In order to make it look like she was sitting on a rock, I used leftover electrical wire and formed hoops. Then I sewed fabric around it and gave it an elastic waistband so that it would stay on her waist. I stuffed the seashell top and fin with cotton to make it more lifelike. I added several shades of blue on the bottom of the rock dress to make it look more like the rock was in the water.
