Bamm-Bamm Costume

This is my son, Hendrix(3) wearing the Flintstones-inspired BAMM-BAMM costume I made. For the skirt, I drafted a very simple skirt pattern and used an orangey/mustardy color felt that I found at JoAnn’s. I cut out random triangle shapes at the bottom edge to give it that pre-historic Flintstones vibe. I then drafted a very simple bone shape out of white felt and sewed and stuffed it with leftover felt scraps. For the furry sash, I used this fleece-type fabric that was on sale at JoAnn’s that resembled faux fur. I simply measured how long it needed to be and glued Velcro onto the back side of the fur sash front and back and onto the waistband of the skirt front and back. I cut out a small strip of material to help hold the bone detail to the sash. For the hat, I improvised quite a bit. I drafted a simple newsboys cap using the same felt fabric I used for the skirt and sewed it all together. I glued a little Pom Pom to the top of the hat. I then cut out a ton of random sizes triangle shapes out of black felt and just glued them in random spots on the skirt and hat. I didn’t create any type of pattern for the club, I just kind of cut out a club shape out of some light gray flannel fabric that I had on hand. I used a pencil to quickly try to trace a little pattern onto the wrong side of the club fabric just to add some details to it and then i sewed and stuffed the club using an entire 7lb bag of polyester filling/stuffing...it was much heavier than I anticipated but it worked as a cute prop. Lastly, I bought a spray can of temporary white hair color and sprayed my son’s hair to replicate BAMM-BAMM’s white hair to complete the look!
