I have built the costume for a competition in carnival.

The idea came when looking in the internet.
The basic model is a rubber ball for gymnastics.
The first construction steps are:
Cut out of sheet strips and then glued with two resin components on top of each other. After four layers, I then reinforced the edges with plastic-heating-pipe. Then the flap made of laminated wood and fitted into the ball. After that I spatula the ball with two components putty, and then smooth ground. In between I have a salad bowl with a bicycle helmet for the upper part. For the attachments I used old flashlights and a slide projector. I also worked with two components of resin or spatula. Inside in the ball I have still a Cup holder (beer) mounted. Then I created the templates for the circles on the ball and thus the circles for the ball. Subsequently, I have primed everything with white color. Then cover the edges with adhesive tape, and paint. I found the template of the circles on the internet. The motifs then all with the hand taped and painted. I needed about 200 hours for it.

The building of the BB8 has made me a huge fun. Also afterwards the response of the other participants was very positive. Especially the children had a lot of fun.
