A word from Melissa, the 'Beehive, little Bee and Beekeper' costume creator:
I am pregnant, so I wanted something to accomodate my belly. I am the Beehive, my husband is the beekeeper and my 16 month old son is a bee. HOW TO: For the Beehive, I used 9 pipe foam insulation tubes and 3 yards of Crushed velvet material. I took one tube around my belly to see how big they would need to be then cut all foam tubes to that same size. I lined them up and duck-taped them together. For the Hat, I used the cut pieces leftover on the pipe tubes. The first one I measured to the circumference of my head but then just cut the rest in descending order about 1in or 2 less each time so that it was a cone shape. Then I measured the fabric around each piece and used a sewing maching to make a pillow case that I could slip over the tubes. I then had to sew one end to the other so that it became a cylinder. I used leftover material to make myself a little dress and then sewed on the bees I bought at Party City.
