A word from Krystle, the 'BenBot & PhilBot' costume creator:
My sons Phillip (PhilBot) age 4 and Benjamin (BenBot) age 1 asked to be robots for halloween. We didn't like the store bought robot costumes. So we took diaper boxes, dryer hose, paint, foam, styrofoam, felt, duct tape, and pip cleaners with lots of hot glue and imagination to create robots just for them. We cut tiny foam balls in half to make the bolts around the suit and helmet. We took made dryer hose arms, and pants (robot pants as my oldest called them) once duct taped securely we added a foam control board piece. While daddy added a coat of paint Mommy and boys worked on control board and gear ideas out of adhesive foam sheets and pipe cleaners. We cut the key for back out of foam. Once we had hot glued everything in place we added lights around control board it is battery operated string of lifhts we stuck through the foam board. Who doesn't love box robots my boys where super happy and excited. This was a fun project for all of us not only did we create awesome costumes we spent quality time together creating them.
