A word from Jennifer, the 'Big Mouth' costume creator:
I made this costume for my son Jojo. This is a fortnite character called Big Mouth. The idea came when he was on his game and showed me the character andasjed if I could make it as he knows I make their costumes every year. To make this, I started with the good using purple fleece and cutting out the shape I wanted as the back of the hood hangs down into a rounded point. Once I sewed the hood , I formed the rim of it around a bent and cut metal hanger to make it sturdy and to keep it opened wide and to become stable. Next I made all the teeth from air dry clay and then painted them and used hot glue to make saliva drip. The gums are made of pink felt which I poked holes into to push the teeth through and as I did this, I molded and hot glued the gums into place and then used paint to make them more realistic. I then useda other layer of fleece to tatter around the gum line. For the vest I took an old kids vest to make sure this was warm and used more purple fleece over it. I used the same methods as above for the gums and teeth here and layered the plum colored fabric beneath. The tongues made of foam paddle boards to keep it light and a wire hanger running through. I cut two and used opposite sides glued together to create the indented Line running down the middle. It was covered in pink felt and painted and the wire enables it to bend. I used black dog collars from dollar tree for the black straps and glass vials were filled with glow stick fluid. The hood connects to the vest with the plastic clips from the collars. The sleeves are made from the material of an old shirt. I cut them from the center in a shape to flare and then cut up rip patterns into them to layer the plum color below. The frog was a pain and I didn’t k ow I’d pull it off. I looked all over for a frog plush toy but no luck find one good enough so I did it. His tummy is two sponges glued together then covered with fabric and a styrofoam head I molded to shape then covered with the same fabric. Then with this fabric I made and stuffed the arms and legs and made the feet and eyes from fimo clay. I then painted the whole thing. His tongues made of pink felt cut molded and hot glued. The worms in his pockets I used fishing jugs. The purple gloves were bought at dollar tree and boots at Ross. I had fun with this one and am very proud:). Thank u!
