BIG Costume

My husband and I LOVE Halloween and we always go big, but this year we went REALLY BIG... literally.

After a trip to Lowe’s for wood and other supplies, we made a box of sort and drew the opening shape. Once there was an opening, Zoltar started to take shape. We’re sticklers for detail so we tried as hard as we could to match the “rustic” details, paint color shape and size. I found ornate wood pieces to use for the star shapes, I molded clay to make the coin and card slot. And I paper mache’d an exercise ball to make the dome on top. Our electrician friend assisted with adding power cord and light switches.

For the costume, I had a really hard time finding fabric that matched the movie Zoltar, so I found an old nightgown at Goodwill and painted it. By adding a big collar and some other details a Zoltar robe was made. I embellished a red and white jacket to make the kid’s jacket. Makeup and hair and we were all set.
