A word from Shannon, the 'Bioshock Splicer' costume creator:
I created this costume from an existing vintage dress I purchased on Amazon. I then proceeded to weather it by using a lighter to burn holes in it, rip some of the dress seams, and then use acrylic paint to emphasize the worn areas and splatter paint "blood" on the costume. My character's weapon of choice is a rusty pipe which I made with some pvc pipe from Home Depot, then painted it a dark silver, then used brown, black, red, and purple acrylics to smear "blood and grime" into the pipe. Finally, my mask on my head was created with some craft foam and more acrylic paint, then sealed with mod podge. I used scissors to dent it and make it look broken in pieces.
This was a really fun costume to make and so much fun to wear! It only cost about $35 overall!
