A word from Chris, the 'Boba Fett' costume creator:
My son wanted to be Boba Fett this year. to create this costume I started with an internet search for costume ideas and photos. I was able to find many templates for much of the costume, but these templates were in many cases for adults so I had to scale them for his size and for the materials I was using. The helmet started as a toy police helmet. It was covered with EVA foam and painted in layers to get the damaged look. I kept the visor clear so he could see when Trick-or-Treating. The range finder is made of balsa wood and very thin plywood. The armor, gauntlets, and jet-pack are also made of EVA foam. Various pieces are made of glade air fresheners, Christmas ornaments, and other items I had around the garage. All of the emblems are hand painted, not decals were used. The armor is attached to a vest that Christopher and I crafted using one of his shirts as a pattern. The cape is a square of fabric with the stripe painted with a mix of orange and brown fabric paint. The ammo pouches are real leather and functional pouches that I crafted and the cummerbund is made of parachute chord and braided like a horse cinch. The Wookie scalp braid is a heavy yarn that we braided. The hard part of the costume was the jumpsuit. Because I do not sew, I I found a blue kids flight suit and bleached it out and redyed it grey. The blaster is a toy that is painted.
