This homemade costume for families entered our 2017 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Carrol, the 'Breakfast Cereal' costume creator:
Mom is Toucan Sam from Froot Loops, baby is Tony the Tiger from Froot Loops, and dad is a member of the 1992 USA Basketball Dream Team.
How to make:
- Froot Loops and Frosted Flakes boxes are made from red and blue tri-fold cardboard that is scored, folded, and glued/taped to size; printouts that are cut out and glued on individually; and 3/4" wide elastic that's used to create straps like a backpack.
- Wheaties box was oversize and was made from foamboard, balsa wood, and orange posterboard; additional materials are same as above
- Toucan dress was made from different shades of blue felt and white glitter foam. Individual feathers were adhered on with a glue gun or safety pinned together (no sew).
- Toucan hat has a baseball hat underneath as a base, with craft foam cut and glued on. Toucan feet also made from craft foam.
- Tony the Tiger's bandana is red cloth cut to size for a toddler
