Bumblebee Costume

My 5-year old son, Matthew, is wearing his homemade costume made by my husband and me. The idea came from YouTube DIY transformers costume creators. This costume is mainly made of cardboard materials like grocery boxes. They are recyclable materials that I collected for the past few months. We used yellow metallic paper for color and black shiny folder for design and windows. We also used glue, double-sided tape, glue sticks. First, I made the body, the hood, and the rear part of the car. Then, I made the wheels and connected them together. Lastly, I made the helmet using recycled cardboard and paper for frame, glitter foam sheet self-adhesive for color and design. My husband puts the pieces together and makes it fit for my son. He made alterations to the entire costume. He decides on the final look of the costume. We used navy pants and sleeveless shirt and gloves as innerwear for my son. (Innerwear is his own clothes) We used yellow metallic paper for additional design over my son's innerwear. Excluding the innerwear, the entire costume costs about $3 to make.
