A word from Jamie, the 'Buzz Lightyear' costume creator:
This is my son Jackson (age 3 in 2010), and he wanted to be Buzz Lightyear. Even though I could have bought a silly little Buzz costume, I am a stay at home mom, so I really enjoy making all of his costumes. The body of the costume is actually made from a plain, white trashcan, which my husband cut to his size with a jigsaw. I sanded down all edges, and put a rough sand on the surface. Then sprayed with Kilz Primer, and free-handed the painting. The arm and leg cuffs are made from styrofoam cups, and the wings were cut from foam board, and then painted. My husband affixed the wings to the bodice with a type of flat screw. Of course, the rest was made by hot glueing fabric reminants to the bodice. It took about 6 weeks to make, start to finish, but it was so worth it. He was so completely thrilled!
