Calvin and Hobbes Costumes

My boys Oakley (7) and Baron (5) love to read Calvin and Hobbes comics. They read them daily and have the entire collection. Oakley has read the books from front to back several times. They asked if they could be Calvin and Hobbes for Halloween so I had to think of how I was going to do it! I'm not that crafty and very busy with homeschooling and raising 4 kids so I wanted to keep it simple and also wanted Hobbes to look like Hobbes and not like any ol' tiger.

For Hobbes I found an orange space suit and painted it with black stripes. Then I cut a piece of felt and foam and made his white tummy. Then, we found a tiger mask at Target and tranformed him into HObbes by painting it and adding some white foam for his whiskers.

For Calvin we found a black and red striped shirt at Walmart and spray painted Baron's hair yellow. We also spiked his hair up just like Calvin's. At the last minute with leftover foam paper we make a classic Calvin face and taped a stick to it for him to hold up over his face.

These costumes were fun to make, simple, and affordable. I spent around $35 for everything! The boys are happy and so am I! We are really looking forward to trick or treating this year! We hope you all like them as well!
