A word from Nick, the 'Cap'n Crunch' costume creator:
I personally created and wore the costume. The costume is created from scratch! This costume was actually quite simple in creating and cost me less than $20. Starting with the hat, I created a template from a piece of poster board. After that I transferred the template over to cardboard. I cut out 2 pieces. I did the same with foam Insulation found at most hardware stores but in this case I used 3 pieces. It was 2 inches thick and I sandwiched the 3 pieces of foam between the two pieces of cardboard. Next I hot glued them all together and started to wrap the hat in blue felt I found in the fabric store. The felt was cut to size and hot glued at the seams. I then printed out the eyebrows and C for the front of the hat and glued them to it. The box was created with that same piece of 2 inch foam wrapped in red wrapping paper. I then enlarged a cap'n Crunch box image and printed it out as 9 separate pieces. You can almost think of it as a 9 piece puzzle. I then cut the pieces out and glued them to the wrapping paper. I cut the circle out for my head and stuck my head through the same spot where the Cap'n face would have been. The mustache was purchased as a wizards beard but then cut and formed into the shape of a mustache. It was held to my face with an elastic band. After all those steps were complete I just had to put it on.
