A word from Vicmar, the 'Carnival of the Dead' costume creator:
Costume pair is being worn by myself and son.
Idea came from combining the corpse bride concept with the nightmare before Christmas theme.
As you can see I'm a real big fan of Tim Burton. The whole look and feel of this costume is detailed but simple to put together.
For starters I let the outfit dictate the makeup. So I combined my long fluffy black and white polk a dot skirt with a semi tight fitted long-sleeved top with the same patterns. Paired this outfit with some short black leather boots, black diamond stud earrings and necklace. Followed by a black scarf with metallic patterns and silver accents adhered to a grey colored headband placed over my head. Lastly, makeup was done by combining face paint and traditional makeup to achieve a ghostly ethereal look. The makeup base was made by mixing a little water with white face paint for a smooth canvas. Topped with some white powder. Black eyeliner was used to create the assymetrical wave patterns on both sides of the face and the lines across the mouth and shaded tip of the nose. Pearly blue and green eyeshadows were mixed to shade and fill circles around the eyes with a touch of clear glittery gel on the corners. Followed by red painted dots to outline and define the blue-green eye circles.
