This homemade costume for adults entered our 2020 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Jared, the 'Carole Baskin-Robbins' costume creator:
I typically like to do random, unique costumes that aren't too hard to figure out, and Tiger King was obviously one of the most topical shows of 2020, so that got the ideas flowing for me. Carole is one of the most recognizable figures on the show and since she shares a name with Baskin-Robbins it sorta clicked to put her inside a tub of ice cream and dress up as her.
There were four main steps associated with creating all of this: 1) Cutting the garbage can that we used for the tub (with a hacksaw), 2) Painting the garbage can with two shades of pink, 3) Photoshopping the labels on the front and the back so that they matched the B&R brand and also had some funny elements added to them, and 4) Applying makeup and props to transform me from Jared into Carole. I hacked the garbage can and did all of the photoshopping, and my wife helped with the painting and the makeup and I am eternally grateful to her. I had never dressed up as a woman before so I definitely needed help with that! This was one of my favorite costumes to date and a lot of people wanted to take my picture when we went out on Halloween so it was a lot of fun!
Props used: Leopard shirt, blonde wig, flower crown, leopard crocs, makeup, 44-gallon garbage can, two S-hook straps to hold up the garbage can, acrylic paint (magenta, white and red), photoshopped posters.
Total cost: About $150, half of which was for printing the posters.
