A word from Brittany, the 'Gir from Invader Zim' costume creator:

One of my favorite characters happens to be Gir from my favorite TV show Invader Zim, and I had always wanted to be him for Holloween, however every costume I found online for women was either the super sexy type or didn't really capture Gir's image. I really wanted to be him so I thought to myself "What if I made my own costume?", and thus began my journey in making a realistic Gir costume myself! I had never made a costume before, but I love being creative and tinkering with ideas, so I just started by drawing a design and making a little cardboard model and continued from there. I used alot of poster board, hot glue, tape, fabric, ribbon, and sewing to create my costume. Everything you see is completely homemade, excluding the black slippers I am wearing (purchased from Walmart). I made the gloves, pants, head, and long sleeve dress from scratch. I purchased a jumbo sized zipper for the dress from a seller online and stitched it on. I used an old baseball helmet as the base to build the Gir head around, and lined it with fabric to match the dress and pants. I am able to see from the head using a black yet see-through fabric, but I made it look apart of the costume as the nose, and the stiching on the h ad and back of the dress is made from black ribbon that I weaved through the fabric. Its also hard to see, but the tail is stuffed with cotton stuffing and attached to the back of the dress, that way it stays in place and doesn't mess up when I sit down, also if I shake my booty a little, the tail looks likes it's wagging :) Gor my first homemade costume, I was really surprised how great it turned out and I enjoyed wearing it on Halloween (especially around my college campus).
