The Little Mermaid Costume

My five year old daughter Anikah shown wearing this costume. When I was younger I was in love with the Little Mermaid and I remember my grandma making me a costume when I was about 5 and now my daughters 5, and she actually enjoys Ariel as well! I decided that I would also make her costume since she wanted to be Ariel this year. Every Ariel costume now days either have Ariel in a princess dress or they have her walking on her tail and she's just not as realistic to me. I like the idea of wearing a dress because it's comfortable expescially for trick or treating and walking around. So I drew out Princess Ariel sitting on a rock I decided to make a brown skirt that look like a rock and incorporated her tail with felt pieces and stuffed the tail. I added sea shells and seaweed to make the rock look real and blue
glitter to the bottom of her skirt to appear as if water is splashing up. Her skin is a leotard which I thought was comfortable and I can actually use again for her dance class. For her top I actually made it out of Purple felt sheets. I was able to find felt for 6cents a sheet and the top took 2 pieces. I pinched and stuffed the top to make it look like shells like the little mermaids top. If you remember the movie there is a scene that Ariel looks at Eric from a rock this is very close.
