A word from Matt, the 'Chairformer' costume creator:
My DIY costume is a transformer chair. I made it using plywood, foam, vinyl, and leather. I work at a furniture company so I thought it would be fun to make this for our Halloween office party and it was a hit! It folds up into a chair so you can fool people (and spook trick-or-treaters). And when you need to walk around, you can stand up and everything unfolds. The head piece is attached to a simple pulley system so the head raises when you stand up (so you can see). It took roughly 30 hours to build and was a ton of fun. I wore it Halloween night and my wife told trick-or-treaters that if they were brave, they could take candy from the "Haunted Chair." When they got close to the candy bowl sitting on the seat I'd start waving my arms and making ghost noises.
