A word from Audrey, the 'Claw Machine' costume creator:
My 9yr old wore this costume. She asked for this to be made she wanted something different. I bought 2 lowe's packing boxes($1.59 ec) tape them together cut hole through the connected areas for her head. I used 2 boxes so it would rest on her shoulders. I cut 3 of 4 sides out on top box for windows. I spray painted the outside black. I used a clear shower curtain to make the glass($1.00). I made the claw from a wire hanger cut 2 stripes of 10 in and bent in half circle and crossed them covered with aluminum foil and suspended with a broken necklace chain so it would sway. I cut a hole the size of a square tissue box and attached it at bottom for the slot a prize would come out and attached an animal in it and put a light stick in hole so the animal was illuminated. The coin area is a block of floral foam ($1.00) and the joystick is a pencil and foam ball($1.00). The front window opened on 1 side to fill with stuffed animals after she put it on and we filled with stuffed animals from around our house. She wore a cat mask to help blend with the costume. Best part was I attached a strobe light made for pumpkins and cut a hole in top so it could be turned on and off also cover inside of corboard at top with aluminum foil to help refect the light. This was awesome in the dark. She won Best Overall Costume in our town parade.
