A word from Nick, the 'Optimus Prime' costume creator:
I grew up watching transformers and thought it would be great to make a costume. I used some cardboard boxes for the main body and legs. I mocked it up for sizing and then seamed it together with duct tape. I then spray painted the legs blue and the body in red. I used foil tape for the accent stripe and soda cans wrapped in the same tape for smoke stacks. I went online and printed off some logos and taped them in the appropriate locations. The wheels came off of my nephews power wheels. I would suggest something that weighs less, as those were a little bulky. For the front windows I wrapped cardboard squares in tin foil and attached them with spray adhesive. I then used mini l-e-d flashlights for the headlights. It took me about 10 hrs to make and cost roughly 30 dollars in materials. It held up well and I even loaned it to a friend after I was done with it. Happy Halloween!!!
