Mermaid and Fisherman Costume

My boyfriend and I were mermaid and fisherman. I came across mermaid ideas on the web and then after brainstorming ways to find a manly match to my costume (instead of a merman) we decided on fisherman. I got the yellow rain poncho at a sports store, the hat was from an actual deep sea fishing website, the beard and pipe were from a Halloween store. I found fabric for my costume online. The shell top was made by gluing shells on the bra. I draped netting over myself and glued shells and pearls to the net. Then I glued sequence to my face for a scale effect. I learned how to do my makeup by searching the web for mermaid makeup tutorials. All of my supplies were from a craft store and fabric shop online. Oh yea! And I knew it would be cold so I did not want to expose my belly... So I got the largest pair of panty hose I could find and I slipped them over my belly. It actually worked to hold my flab in too!
