Pirate Dog Costume

Gus is my 13 year old collie who decided to go as a pirate this year. Gus wanted to join his new puppy brother at the Halloween parade at our local mall but due to the spread of his arthritis from his back legs to his lower spine and front paws he can't stand or walk for long periods of time. So we decided to make Gus a pirate with his own ship so that he could attend in style and with comfort! Gus's costume was seen from old clothing and Velcro so that he could have a look of a jacket but it wasn't fully attached so that he was comfortable. I cut off the arms sewed the hole, cut down the sleeve reattached it at the bottom of the jacket and put Velcro down the sleeve so that it went on like a wrist band so he had free reign of his legs. His pirate ship was made from an old kid dresser that I unscrewed the back from took out the shelves, nail the door closed, and attached wheels to the bottom so it could be pulled like a wagon. Then attached a sheet sail and a trick or treat glowing jolly Rodger flag. It was all worth it so Gus could enjoy his favorite holiday, Halloween, showing it's never too late to live your life to the fullest!
