A word from Colby, the 'Virgin of Guadalupe' costume creator:
This one was something I had wanted to do for years but it was such a big project I kept putting it off so finally I decided to just do it. It took me about 3 months of crafting to make it happen. The backdrop has a frame made out of a hula hoop, some pvc pipe and a backpack. I draped that with lightweight material and 99cent store roses and felt "flames". I turned an old doll into the angel and made the crescent moon out of foam board. I hand cut out over 200 gold stars and glued them onto the veil and finished it off with some gold ribbon edging. The dress is just the closest I could find to the pattern found on her dress. Added lots of glitter to finish it off. Love how it turned out!
