A word from Matthew, the 'Ao Kuang' costume creator:
I am wearing the costume as it is fit to my body or can fit others of similar proportions. I used cardboard eva foam hot glue and pvc flexible pipes to make this costume. It took me almost 7 months to make it due to me having a full time job as well. First i started the head out of cardboard then added the foam. And just worked my way down. The process is you make it inn cardboard and pvc piping first then foam then add the foam. After you're done building it you then use a would burner to burn in the detailing of the costume. Then after the details are all in and no modifications to the shape need to be made you spray the whole costume with black plastidip. Its a type of spray on rubber coating. Now after that's done you paint the entire thing with acrylic paints.
