A word from Andrea, the 'Glowing Jellyfish' costume creator:
My daughter Ella decided to be a jellyfish so this is what we came up with! Looked so beautiful during the day and at night! Most of the items used to make it were purchased from the dollar store! We did get the dome umbrella online since it was hard to find. The whole thing cost about $25! (The most expensive things were the lights and the umbrella at $10 each.) And she won first place in the local costume contest this year.
Materials I used were two bath loofahs (just cut the string in the center that holds them together and wah-la! Amazing jellyfish tentacles!), some iridescent ribbon and tulle and gift wrap (just whatever you have laying around the house can work!), a child sized dome umbrella, giant Googly eyes, and some battery powered LED twinkle lights. I tied the loofah pieces and ribbons/tulle around the spokes, threaded through the LED lights and taped the battery pack to the handle. My daughter wore all black so at night all you could see was the jellyfish floating down the street. Very easy and tons of compliments!
