A word from Christina, the 'Knight in Shining Armor' costume creator:
When my son said he wanted to be a Knight in Shining Armor for Halloween, I was a little intimidated. I love to make his costumes, and to me this is the ultimate costume. I did a lot of research, there are lots of good ideas out there. I decided to go for semi homemade. I was very lucky to find a storm trooper costume used for like $10. I spray painted it silver, yes you can spray paint material! On the large material areas I did purchase some silver material, and cut it to shape and hand stitch it in place. The rivets are hot glue dots with spray paint over them. The storm trooper hat was deconstructed and taped back together with silver aluminum tape, on some parts I used some plastic from yard sale signs, adding rivets, and spray painted the whole thing.I added a knights belt with a back flap, made out of some foam sheets, with hot glue rivets, and spray painted. The shield was my favorite part. I didn't want him to have too much to carry, so it doubles as his candy holder. See that slot in the front, the candy goes in there, and a silver bag I made is glued on the back. I made it out of foam board from the dollar store, with the decorations drawn on with hot glue, and rivets all around it. I added an elastic strap that went around his arm, and a handle to hold.In all this costume took a few weeks to complete, working a bit each day (dry time took the longest), and I spent about $25.
