Construction Family Costume

My 2 boys (6 yrs old and 3 yrs old) have always been fascinated with construction trucks. Everyday, when we take my oldest son to school, he must look to his left when passing by to see the progress of the construction being done just next to his school. He said several times that he wanted to be a construction worker when he grows up and a part time farmer so he can milk cows. Six year old aspirations are the best! Lol Just from that I knew what I can make for this year's Halloween theme, CONSTRUCTION FAMILY! I made the boys' crane, bulldozer, cone, traffic signs from items I already have at home-- recycled boxes! Today for my son's school parade he told me that every one wanted to touch his costume
and had the most second look! Thanks to boys' obsession with construction trucks. It was an easy brain storming what to wear for this year's Halloween.

Older son - manuevering the crane with hard hat (safety first)
Second son - manuevering the bulldozer with hard hat (safety first)

Items needed:
Boxes, spray paint, scissor or blade, hot glue gun

Overall cost: more or less $12

How to make construction trucks:
1. Gather recycled boxes to start with the frame.

2. Take the necessary measurements depending on your child's built some kids are bigger than others so this may vary.

a) crane's body is 18x11
crane's boom is 20 inches long
crane's hood is 11x12 and to keep it standing you need a piece of wood or any strong cardboard approximately 23 inches long

b) bulldozer's body is 10x16
bulldozer's bucket or blade is 8x5x6
bulldozer's frame is 13x12x9

3. Spray paint the different part of the the construction trucks using black and yellow color.

4. Using hot glue gun, you can put together the pieces.
