This homemade costume for babies entered our 2016 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Taylor, the 'Porcupine' costume creator:
My son is wearing the costume.
How to:
The brown suit is a monkey suit I sowed the ears so they werent so big and cut off the tail.
I bought brown fur for the back and top of head. Slow use it to cover his boots bc the monkey suit was a little small.
The spikes are made of a fake plant I found at hobby lobby. I wanted something that would stick out straight and not bend but also wanted it to move at the same time not be stiff. They were originally green so I have to spray paint then brown and white.
I attached the spikes by running them thru the back side of the fur bending the ends and hot gluing them down.once I attached all the individual spikes
I ran velcro from the top to the bottom of the back of the monkey suit and then on the back side of the fur. This allowed me to take the spikes off the suit if my son needed to sit in the stroller or get in the car to go to the next place.
Total cost of outfit
Monkey suit$2.50"once upon a child"
Spikes $20 "hobby lobby"
Velcro $5 "walmart"
Paint $15 "walmart"
Fur $7 "Johann fabric" I used 2 different couponsites to get price that lol. Originally $30 per yard
Total $49.50
Spent 1hr every night for a week working on it.
