Zootopia Costume

My daughter is Officer Judy Hopps. She has a lot of accessories in order to put her costume together. I made the ears, tail and feet out of fur fabric, felt sheets and soft foam. The ears were cut into shape, I used a cereal box to shape the inside and wire to make it flexible. I then wrapped it in the pink felt and grey fur and attached to a headband. The tail was created by following a deer tail pattern so I could get it to have the perked up look. I sewed the grey fur on top and white fur on the bottom and then stuffed it with pillow stuffing. The feet were a little more work. I cut out soft foam into rabbit feet but used the shape of the end of her sneakers so I taped it to the tip of her sneakers then I wrapped it in fur fabric and gave it a trim to follow the rabbit foot shape. I used plastic wrap and black tape to shape out her feet wrap and then I cut the back and added Velcro straps so she could easily slip them on and off.

The vest and wrislets are cut to shape with soft foam sheets and then i wrapped with a navy blue stretch fabric. I added velcro straps for easy on and off and for design purpose too.

The knee pads, badge and carrot pen is also handmade. For the knee pads and badge I cut out soft foam and painted the designs by hand on each. The carrot pen, I used a online tutorial for a baked clay carrot pen. It didn't come out as cool as the video but it was enough to make my daughter happy.

My Son is Nick Wilde. A much easier costume. I sewed the tail and ears by hand into the shapes and stuffed it with pillow stuffing. The shirt was bought from a thrift shop and I painted the tie unto the shirt because I didn't have time to look for the exact tie. I also made the little badge he's wearing. And the pupsicle I carved out of Styrofoam and painted red and stuck a Popsicle stick right in.

My niece is Assistant Mayor Bellwether. I cut the ears using soft foam and hot glued some stretched out pillow stuffing to the out side and then I used a ball of pillow stuffing for her hair and tail and I pinned them both down. I found her clothes to match as close as possible from a thrift store as well. I brought the mug at a dollar store and I hand wrote with sharpies on the it "World's Greatest Assistant Mayor" (With dad crossed out) It was a temporary make so it rubbed off by the end of the night.
